The new Nexus 7 Tablet is an iPad killer and certainly Google has succeeded it and must be proudly celebrating it too. But Google is aiming for next target which is the Kindle Fire. The prices are surprisingly same of both the Kindle Fire and the Google’s Nexus 7. In the holiday season, each week the Kindle Fire of Amazon sold about a million units and had the highest figures of sale. Even the Kindle Fire was an iPad killer and the figures speak to it.
The Android is now ruling the low to mid ranged tablet world and with the Nexus 7 a hit and filling all the stores has put serious pressure on the Kindle Fire. Whereas we have come to know that Microsoft was also trying to build a tablet with some help from Barnes and Noble which also trying to target the Kindle Fire. But Google’s Nexus 7 right on target, didn’t shock us as Kindle also runs in same Android OS, but the reason Google targeted it was Kindle sidelined Google’s apps that generates revenue and due to this Kindle was sold like hot cakes as it had a totally custom outer layer an Android OS running in it.

The Amazon Kindle Fire and the Google Nexus 7 both similar to prices and same class of tablets, we thought of having a Face off between the two regarding their features and spec’s.
About the Screen
With both having similar “7-inch” IPS capacitive touch screen and Google’s Nexus 7, the number itself explains why it is included in the name, has a resolution of about 1280x800 px as for Kindle Fire, it has a low 1024x600 px resolution. And with Nexus 7 having a scratch resistant Corning glass protection for its IPS screen, stands up for better display.
About the Processor
The Nexus 7 offers faster speed as it is built on Asus with a 1.3GHz NVIDIA Tegra 3 Quad core plus a 1GB RAM that loads quickly and is able to run multiple apps with good interface and response. Adding more is the 12 core GPU that offers a rich and awesome graphics and the 4 PLUS 1CPU design gives a good processing power to it. As for Kindle Fire, it has OMPA 4430 Dual core 1GHZ Cortex-A9 processor with a 512MB RAM.
A look on the Camera
Android tablets don’t give more importance for integrated cameras and with the 7-inch devices they certainly don’t. The Kindle Fire lacks the availability of both the front and the rear facing cameras, so that’s a downfall for the hit android tablet, isn’t it? As for the Google Nexus 7 it has front facing camera of 1.2MP giving users to video chat and although there has not been much difference for an improved integrated cameras among the android tablets.

Simply explained here is the Kindle Fire, runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS version but it is highly customised, as Amazon gave some additional touch to it. Launched a year ago, this Amazons Kindle Fire has gained good public for its acceptable price and new features. The model carried an 8GB memory but no expandable memory slot in it. As for the Google Nexus 7 tablet, there are two available models in an 8GB and 16GB storage, but there isn’t any expandable memory slot for this. But Google has given an option for extra storage if pay extra for it, as role content plays an important role among the tablets.
About the Portability
The Kindle Fire’s dimensions and weight are 190x120x11.4 mm and it weighs around 413 grams and whereas Nexus 7 weighs about 340 grams and measures 198.5x120x10.5mm. So, comparing the dimensions and weight of both, Nexus 7 and Kindle Fire, the Google’s Nexus 7 tops among it.
The Battery Life
The Nexus 7 gives a better battery life as it offers a 300 hour standby time with 9 hours of HD video playback and 10 hours of eReading or Web Browsing. And Kindle Fire gives a 8 hour continuous reading or video playback of 7.5 hours where wireless is put to off. But this all will vary on how much usage of battery is done.
The Access of Apps and Content
Nexus 7 is designed for enhanced experience for Google Play and its Jelly Bean capabilities, where this Google play offers access to lots of content and some good smart features. On the other hand Kindle Fire running on Android with a customized OS device has an advantage and users experiencing all the music, ebooks, magazines, and e.t.c. has certainly won hearts of people. Amazon used the content as an advantage for its Kindle Fire and it worked as content is playing a large role in the present Android market.

Clearly the over all winner from the specifications is the Google Nexus 7 as it offers good display, easy portable carry and faster processing speed and also offers an extra storage option. Both the Kindle Fire and Nexus 7, 8GB’s are having the similar price tags of each Rs. 11,070 ($199) and the 16GB Nexus 7, price availability is Rs. 13,853 ($259).
